FORM 244 AND FORM 2634

Proprietors of distilled spirits plants and others concerned:

Purpose. The purposes of this industry circular is to advise you (1) that the use of Form 244, Tank Certificate, on bottling tanks on premises will be continued and (2) that Form 2634, Denaturation of Spirits, should be prepared in accordance with the instructions on the form.

Form 244. While no specific provision is made in 26 CFR Part 201 for the use of the Form 244 on bottling tanks on bottling premises, you are advisde that internal revenue officers will continue to verify the calibration of such tanks and to certofy to the accuracy of the calibration on Form 244, before premitting the use of the tanks.

Form 2634. Form 2634 should be prepared in triplicate, in accordance with the instructions thereon, so that one copy may be furnished to the assiged offier as a notice of intent to denature, before the denaturation is commenced. If the procedure contemplated by instructions on the form proves satisfactory and advantageous, the regulations in 26 CFR 201.407 will be revised.
