PLANT PROFILES FOR BREWERIES
In keeping with our continuing efforts to make brewery inspections as practical and meaningful as possible, we have reappraised
our inspection techniques and tested new ideas by means of a pilot
inspection program conducted at a few selected breweries in each
region. During these pilot inspections a written description of
operations, records, and internal controls, covering each major segment of the particular brewer's activities, was employed. This written
description, which we have called the "plant profile", was found to be
very helpful to both us and to the brewers concerned. Accordingly,
we plan to extend the use of plant profiles to all brewery inspections.
If your brewery did not participate in the pilot inspection program, a representative of the Assistant Regional Commissioner's office
may soon contact you concerning the preparation of a profile for your
brewery. When he does, we will appreciate your giving him assistance
and cooperation in the preparation of the document. When the profile
has been completed, a copy will be made available to you. We think
you will find it both interesting and helpful.
Inquiries concerning this circular should refer to its number
and be addressed to your Assistant Regional Commissioner, Alcohol
and Tobacco Tax.
