REALIGNMENT OF KANSAS FROM SOUTHWEST
REGION TO MIDWEST REGION
Federal firearms licensees and explosives licensees and permittees; proprietors
of distilled spirits plants, taxpaid wine bottling houses; dealers in and
users of specially denatured alcohol; reprocessors of specially denatured
alcohol articles; users of tax-free alcohol; manufacturers of nonbeverage
products; wholesale and retail dealers in alcoholic beverages and importers
of alcoholic beverages, with operations in the State of Kansas; and
Purpose. The purpose of this circular is to inform you that effective
October 1, 1973, the Southwest and the Midwest Regions of the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco and Firearms will be realigned. Realignment will consist of transferring
the State of Kansas from the Southwest Region to the Midwest Region.
Background. A comprehensive study completed recently disclosed that a
considerable increase in the efficiency of Bureau operations would result from
the transfer of the State of Kansas from the Southwest Region to the Midwest
Effect of change. On and after October 1, 1973, correspondence with the
Bureau's Regional Office should be directed to the Regional Director of the
Midwest Region at the following address:

This realignment does not change the Service Center serving the State of Kansas.
Returns and other payments, therefore, will continue to be sent to the Internal
Revenue Service Center in Austin, Texas.
