IN THIS ISSUE

Greetings! We hope you had a boundless and witty week! This week's top stories include information about recent Permits Online updates, tips that may help speed up processing of your COLAs and Formulas Online registration forms, and a list of the past week's most popular TTB Online pages at TTB.gov/.

TTB'S PERMITS ONLINE APPLICATION PROCESS: A TRULY ELECTRONIC SYSTEM START TO FINISH

White HouseWe have made changes to our regulations and to our Permits Online program to make applying for federal approval a completely electronic process.

We are pleased to announce that those applying for federal authorization to start a business in the alcohol, tobacco, or firearms and ammunition industries are no longer required to submit original documentation for bond forms and power of attorney forms. We will accept these forms, along with all other required documentation, through an electronic process within the Permits Online system.

Previously, applicants were required to submit paper copies of these forms, which could prolong the application approval process. With these changes, you can send bonds and Powers of Attorney forms to us electronically, eliminating the need to mail us paper forms.

We strongly encourage industry members to use all of TTB's electronic filing options. Expanding our uses of newer technologies is part of an ongoing effort to provide you with the programs and tools you need to help ensure a lawful, thriving future for our TTB-regulated industries.

PROCESSING TIMES FOR COLAS ONLINE AND FORMULAS ONLINE REGISTRATIONS

At TTB.gov/, we recently added a Current Registration Processing Times chart, which allows you to track your COLAs Online and Formulas Online registration applications, and will help you estimate when your registration form is likely to be processed.

Want to speed up the process?
We've made a list of the most common things that slow down processing of COLAs Online and Formulas Online registration forms:

  • Permit number is incorrect, pending approval, or not in an active status
We will only grant access to COLAs Online and Formulas Online if your permit is in an active status. Also, please note that you must wait until your permit is approved before you apply for access to these systems.
  • Power Of Attorney forms are not attached or are incomplete
Because submitting an electronic application in COLAs Online and Formulas Online constitutes an electronic signature, we must ensure that people we give permission to submit COLAs and formulas have legal permission to sign those documents.  If you don't already have signature authority for COLAs and formulas on file with us, then you must submit a TTB Form 5000.8 – Power of Attorney with your registration request form.
  • TTB emails are not reaching your inbox
If information is missing from your application, we'll contact you via email and request that you send it to us. We also send you your username via email.  If you are not receiving emails from TTB, please add alfd@ttb.gov/ to your "safe senders" list to prevent spam filters from blocking our emails.
