TTB PROPOSES ACCEPTANCE OF ELECTRONIC SIGNATURES
Washington - The Alcohol, Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) announced the issuance of a notice of proposed rulemaking in the Federal Register on April 11, 2003, proposing to amend its regulations to permit industry members to use electronic technology to reduce the need for and storage of paper documents. TTB is proposing to allow the use of electronic, rather than handwritten, signatures to sign certain forms, and to submit certain forms to TTB electronically through a TTB-approved electronic document receiving system.
