TTB Signs MOU with Wine Australia

On November 13, 2012, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) Deputy Assistant Administrator Theresa McCarthy and the Chief Operating Officer Andreas Clark of the Wine Australia Corporation (Wine Australia), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) intended to establish a consistent channel for information exchange regarding the import and export of wine. Wine Australia is an Australian Government statutory authority whose mission is to enhance compliance and trade, and its core responsibilities include export regulation and compliance; wine sector information and analysis; maintaining the integrity of Australia's wine labels and winemaking practices; defining the boundaries of Australia's wine producing areas; and assisting with negotiations with other countries to reduce trade barriers.

The MOU, signed in Adelaide, South Australia, establishes a consistent point of contact on issues of mutual interest in the regulation and trade of wine, and provides a cooperative framework for working together to resolve issues of mutual concern.
