IN THIS ISSUE

Greetings! This week’s top news includes a new FAQ about ice cream and other frozen products made with distilled spirits, what’s new in Permits Online, and a reminder to register for one our free trade practice seminars.

NEW FAQ ON WHEN FROZEN DESSERT PRODUCTS CONTAINING SPIRITS ARE REGULATED AS ALCOHOL BEVERAGES

New distilled spirits FAQ S15 describes the criterion we use to make case-by-case determinations on whether or not a frozen product, such as ice cream or ice pops, made with distilled spirits is a nonbeverage product or regulated as beverage alcohol. This evaluation determines such things as:

  • Whether or not a TTB permit/registration is required to manufacture it.
  • If it is subject to TTB labeling and advertising regulations.
  • Whether the manufacturer may file for drawback of taxes paid on the spirits used.

For additional information read Distilled Spirits FAQ S15 on the Distilled Spirits FAQs page.

WHAT’S NEW IN PERMITS ONLINE

We recently made some changes to Permits Online that:

  • Improve how you view information on the records detail page.
  • Allow you to resume saved applications where you left off.

Records Display

Information about your pending and approved applications now display differently on the Record Details page. Instead of a vertical menu of the various sections of the page, you now have a horizontal menu of tabs with drop-downs.

Resume Application

You now have the choice to “Pick up where I left off” or “Start from the beginning” on applications within your Application Package that you previously left in a Save and Resume status.

REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR 2019 TTB TRADE PRACTICE SEMINARS

Our half-day Trade Practice Seminars provide you with a good basic understanding of the practices that are prohibited during the commercial trade of alcohol among producers, wholesalers, and retailers.
Our seminars are free to attend and are being offered in 4 cities across the United States between April and August.

Can’t make it to one of the seminars? You can stay home and view the presentation we used at last year’s seminars any time.
