Greetings! This week’s top news includes helpful tips for creating distilled spirits labels that comply with TTB regulations, a reminder to mail tax returns to the correct address, and details about a recently-accepted OIC from a California firearms manufacturer.

DESIGN A COMPLIANT DISTILLED SPIRITS LABEL

Here are some links to information that can help you create a compliant distilled spirits label which should help move your label through the TTB approval process faster.

Distilled Spirits Mandatory Labeling Webinar - This presentation was used during TTB webinars covering the basics of distilled spirits labeling requirements.

Which Alcohol Beverages Require Formula Approval? - For certain distilled spirits TTB must evaluate the ingredients and production process before the product can be made or imported, and before you can submit your labels to TTB.

Allowable Changes to Approved Labels - You can make certain changes to your labels without obtaining a new COLA.

AVOID PENALTIES AND INTEREST - SEND TAX RETURNS AND PAYMENTS TO THE CORRECT ADDRESS

When filing your TTB excise tax returns and payments by mail on TTB F 5000.24sm, please be sure to use the correct address.  TTB Excise Tax Returns and payments must be mailed to:

Please DO NOT mail returns and/or payments to the National Revenue Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Late returns or payment are subject to penalties and interest.

CALIFORNIA FIREARMS MANUFACTURER SUBMITS OFFER IN COMPROMISE

We accepted an offer in compromise from Excel Industries located in Ontario, California for failure to file tax returns and pay firearms and ammunition excise tax (FAET).  You can see the details of this and other offers in compromise on our Administrative Actions page.
