IN THIS ISSUEGreetings! This week’s top news includes information about the establishment of the Eastern Connecticut Highlands AVA, our new temporary voluntary disclosure program video series, seven vacancies we are looking to fill, and an information collection notice out for comment. EASTERN CONNECTICUT HIGHLANDS AVA ESTABLISHEDOn Friday, October 11, 2019, we published T.D. TTB–157 in the Federal Register to establish the approximately 1,246-square mile "Eastern Connecticut Highlands" American viticultural area in all or portions of Hartford, New Haven, Tolland, Windham, New London, and Middlesex Counties in Connecticut, effective on November 12, 2019. The Eastern Connecticut Highlands viticultural area is not located within any other established viticultural are. We are issuing this regulation in response to a petition submitted by the president of Sharpe Hill Vineyard on behalf of himself and the local vineyard owners and vintners. TTB designates viticultural areas to allow vintners to better describe the origin of their wines and to allow consumers to better identify wines they may purchase. See Docket No. TTB–2018–0010 on Regulations.gov for all documents and public comments related to this rulemaking. Use our new American Viticultural Area (AVA) Map Explorer to view the boundaries of this or other established and proposed AVAs.
