This week’s top news includes a minor correction we’ve made to the 2020 semi-monthly tax return due dates listing, a change in the minimum sale age for tobacco, and information about several TTB information collections that are open for comment. CORRECTION - 2020 SEMI-ANNUAL TAX RETURN DUE DATES LISTINGOn January 7, we made a minor correction to the return serial numbers appearing on the list of 2020 semi-monthly tax return due dates that are posted on TTB.gov. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. NEW MINIMUM AGE FOR SALE OF TOBACCOOn December 20, 2019, the President signed legislation to amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act), and raise the federal minimum age of sale of tobacco products from 18 to 21 years. The FD&C Act is administered by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Questions about the new minimum age of sale of tobacco products can be directed to AskCTP@fda.hhs.gov. TELL US YOUR THOUGHTSOn January 7, 2020, as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, we published a notice requesting public comments on six existing TTB information collections (forms, and recordkeeping requirements).
