IN THIS ISSUEGreetings! This week’s top news includes a proposal to establish the Verde Valley AVA, a reminder that you still have time to take our survey and share your thoughts on service improvements we’re considering, reminders about filing your tax returns and operational reports on time, and two paid internships currently available in TTB Headquarters. VERDE VALLEY AVA PROPOSEDWe are accepting comments through April 28, 2020, on Notice No. 187, Proposed Establishment of the Verde Valley Viticultural Area, which was published in the Federal Register on Friday, February 28, 2020. The proposed 200 square-mile Verde Valley American viticultural area (AVA) is located in Yavapai County, Arizona, and it is not located within, nor does it contain, any other established viticultural area. We are making this proposal in response to a petition filed by the Verde Valley Wine Consortium, which represents local grape growers and winemakers. We designate viticultural areas to allow vintners to better describe the origin of their wines and to allow consumers to better identify wines they may purchase. You may submit comments electronically on this proposal and view copies of the proposed rule, selected supporting materials, and any comments we receive about this proposal at Regulations.gov within Docket No. TTB-2020-0002. A link to that docket is posted at our Wine - Notices of Proposed Rulemaking page at TTB.gov under Notice No. 187. You also may view the proposed AVA’s boundaries using our AVA Map Explorer. LAST CHANCE TO SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS TO TTB SERVICESOur survey will be closing soon, but there is still time to contribute your thoughts on which proposed projects would most increase your satisfaction with TTB services and help us focus our work. If you are a member of the alcohol beverage community who is responsible for preparing TTB applications, tax returns, and/or operational reports, please take our short survey and share your thoughts on some service improvements we are considering.
