IN THIS ISSUE Greetings! This week we’re highlighting a webinar on tobacco import requirements that we are participating in and three offers in compromise that we recently accepted to settle tax liabilities. TTB PARTICIPATING IN TOBACCO IMPORTS WEBINARWe are pleased to join the Florida Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association for their virtual seminar on Importing Tobacco Products. This is a great opportunity for existing tobacco importers and those interesting in entering this business to learn from both government and industry experts. Date: June 8 Time: 10-11:30 AM (ET) Here’s what the seminar will cover:
TTB ACCEPTS OFFERS IN COMPROMISE FROM ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, AND AMMUNITION MANUFACTURERSWe recently accepted offers in compromise from Cooperstown Distillery, LLC in Cooperstown, New York; Sara, Inc. in South Bend, Indiana; and OCCAM Defense Solutions of Moscow, Idaho. All three cases involved failure to pay federal excise tax. For details on these and other offers in compromise, please visit our Administrative Actions page. If accepted, an offer in compromise allows you to settle your tax liability for less than the full amount you owe. TTB will consider an offer in compromise when there is legitimate doubt as to whether you actually owe the amount we have determined is due (doubt as to liability), or when there is doubt that you will be able to pay the full amount due immediately or in the future (doubt as to collectability). To learn more, see TTB F 5640.1 - Offer in Compromise. If you’d like to discuss financial circumstances that are impacting your ability to pay your taxes or pay them on time, you may contact us.
